Pet Bed Sourcing and Care Guide: Fabrics, Filling and Labels

Author: Kindrue Editorial Team Published on: 2026年7月28日

Pet bed care cannot be determined from the outer fabric alone. The cover, lining, filling, non-slip base, zipper and seam construction together determine whether a product can be washed, how it should be dried and whether it will recover its shape.

Buyers should define the use scenario and validate the proposed care instructions with representative samples instead of assigning one cleaning frequency or replacement period to every bed.

1. Document the complete construction

Specify whether the cover is removable, how inserts are divided, the filling material and weight, the non-slip base, closures and which components may be washed separately.

For foam, fiber fill and multi-layer structures, confirm water exposure, absorption, drying time and dimensional recovery. Terms such as memory foam or machine washable are not substitutes for product-specific instructions.

2. Inspect fabrics, seams and accessible parts

  • Fabric composition, weight, color and hand feel match the approved sample.
  • Seam density, binding and high-stress areas meet the specification.
  • Zippers, sliders and attachments are positioned and protected as intended.
  • The non-slip base does not crack, shed or create an unexpected odor.
  • Pile fabrics meet the agreed limits for shedding, pilling and matting.

3. Validate care instructions with wash testing

Test shrinkage, distortion, color change, staining, pilling, seam strength, filling clumping and zipper operation under the proposed care conditions. Agree on the number of cycles and acceptance criteria.

Labels should identify washable components, temperature or cycle limits, bleaching restrictions, drying method and any special handling. Cleaning frequency should depend on use, soiling, environment and product instructions rather than one universal schedule.

4. Check compression packaging and recovery

Vacuum or compressed packaging can reduce volume but may affect appearance and filling recovery. Record compression duration, unpacking method, expected recovery time and acceptable dimensional variation.

If the product needs resting or reshaping after unpacking, include clear instructions. The export carton should also protect against excessive compression, moisture and abrasion.

5. Give condition-based replacement guidance

There is no universal replacement interval for all pet beds. Continued use depends on structural support, fabric and seam condition, whether contamination or odor can be removed, and whether the product can still be cleaned as directed.

Instructions should tell consumers to stop using a bed when filling becomes accessible, parts detach, mold is present or other damage may affect use.

Buyer checklist

  1. Define materials and care limits for every component.
  2. Complete wash, shrinkage, colorfastness and recovery checks.
  3. Inspect seams, closures, non-slip bases and accessible parts.
  4. Validate dimensions and recovery after compressed packaging.
  5. Keep care labels consistent with actual test conditions.
  6. Check appearance, size, weight and packaging during production inspection.

Connect the approved materials, wash method and packaging to the same revision of the sample approval record.
